My Photography: A Few Favorites

I've been studying visual art for 3 years, and I'm enjoying every second of this creative journey. The more I explore different meanings and subjects, the deeper I want to push my mind and creativity into producing more. I've used art for many different purposes in my life. My grandmother introduced me to painting when I was very little, and I learned so much about painting, including the joy I felt when working. As I grew through elementary school, I forgot about painting, leaving it behind in search of other pursuits. 

As I grew older, art gradually became more central. I took short art courses in middle school, but it wasn’t until 10th grade that I fully immersed myself in art. During that challenging period in my life, art became a form of therapy. I focused on strengthening my technical skills, drawing figures, landscapes, and visual references daily. I took AVPA(Academy of Visual and Performing Arts) art at my high school. AVPA is an after school art course that teaches either Visual Arts, Dance, Music, Film, and Theatre. In AVPA art, I learned under various professionals and they helped me build a strong foundation, in which I continue to build off of.  In 11th grade, I switched to taking AVPA Film, where I learned how to create films and photographs. I also took a scenic art class, a dual enrollment course where I learned the basics of scene painting.  The summer after 11th grade, I attended CSSSA summer bridge, a two-week long live-in art school at the Cal Arts campus. This experience will always be engraved into my memory as one of the most rewarding and fun experiences of my whole life. As I complete high school and prepare to enter college, I continue to deepen my practice through AP Studio Art and Ryman Arts(a private weekly art school, hosted on various college campuses). These experiences are helping me refine both my technical skills and my ability to create meaningful work that reflects the issues and ideas important to me as an artist.
